Historic minaret offering panoramic views of Jaipur city, built by Maharaja Iswari Singh in the 18th century.
Iswari Minar Swarga Sal, also known as Heaven Piercing Minaret, is a historic tower located near Tripolia Gate in the old city of Jaipur. Built by Maharaja Iswari Singh, the son of Jaipur's founder Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, in the 18th century, the minaret was constructed to commemorate a victory.
The seven-story minaret features a blend of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles, with a spiral staircase leading to the top. The structure is adorned with intricate carvings and jharokhas (overhanging enclosed balconies), showcasing the fine craftsmanship of that era.
From the top of the minaret, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Pink City, including landmarks like the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and the surrounding hills. The name 'Swarga Sal' translates to 'piercing heaven,' reflecting the minaret's height and prominence in the city's skyline.
According to local legend, Maharaja Iswari Singh built the minaret to observe the movements of his beloved. Today, the minaret stands as a testament to Jaipur's rich architectural heritage and offers visitors a unique vantage point to appreciate the city's layout and design.
