A picturesque palace situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, showcasing a unique blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles.
Jal Mahal, or the "Water Palace," is one of Jaipur's most serene and picturesque sights. Located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, this low-lying palace appears to float on the water's surface when the lake is full.
Built in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the palace was originally constructed as a hunting lodge for the royal family. The structure is a five-story building, with four floors submerged underwater when the lake is at its full capacity, leaving only the top floor visible.
The palace showcases a unique blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. The red sandstone structure features intricate carvings, elegant arched gateways, and beautiful terraced gardens. The palace is particularly stunning during sunset when its reflection shimmers in the lake waters.
Although the interior of Jal Mahal is not open to the public, visitors can enjoy the view from the banks of Man Sagar Lake. The area around the lake has been developed with promenades and viewing points, making it a popular spot for both tourists and locals.
